If we were having coffee, I’ll confess that I spent an entire week preparing for this coffee date, thanks to my procrastination. I used the hour I was supposed to spend on reading and calling family members in order to fulfill this coffee date obligation. In summary, I chose you guys over everything else, and that is enough proof of how much I miss writing here. Also, for that one person who reads this blog, okay two-three people who do read this blog, wishing you a belated Eid Mubarak from me and mine (no, you are not getting a picture of him today), to you and yours.
If we were having coffee, I will reiterate what you have always heard in Islamic school and Sunday school, which is- the devil is a liar. Because, I don’t know how else to explain the phenomenon of feeling an immense fatigue washing over me every time I pick up my books to read. You know how you feel tired from reading, well, I feel tired even before reading. Devil, you better stop playing with me boy.
If we were having coffee, I’ll use the opportunity to get something off my chest. I feel this has to be said, and although it has been said by numerous people, I’m still going to say it again: If a person only loves you when you change your God given dark skin into a lighter version, then they don’t love you. If they are willing to watch you and enable you to absorb chemicals, damaging to the organs and systems within you, so you can appeal to their version of “beauty”, then they do not love you.
If we were having coffee, I’ll remind you, today it’s your skin, tomorrow it will be your weight, and on the cycle will continue until you morphe into a version of yourself you do not recognize, you do not love, and you know what? It still wouldn’t be enough for them. What a loss it is, to lose yourself, not love yourself and the person you were constantly trying to appeal to doesn’t even love you. If we were having coffee, I’ll tell you that is simply my two cents which you are under no obligation to listen to.
If we were having coffee, I’ll lighten the mood by telling you about a hilarious video I watched recently. It was of a ram fighting a bull. I don’t know what that ram was smoking to think he could take on a bull thrice it’s size. But then again, it got me thinking, have you ever picked a fight with someone who was twice your size?
If we were having coffee, I’ll tell you I’ve been trying to get back to working out for over a month now, and well, it has not been working out. I always want to start exercising on Monday, and then I always wake up late on Mondays, hence the exercise gets postponed to the next Monday and that has been the story of my life. I was told, one of the best ways to exercise is to do something you love, I’m thinking I need to get some no-music Zumba videos, that might get me moving.
Talking about moving, that is all for this week’s coffee date. Thanks for hanging out with virtual moi, and see you next time ❤️.
